The recruitment process consists of a single-level written examination conducted in online Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) mode, followed by a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

• Single-level Written Examination (Objective Type in CBRT mode)
• Computer Proficiency Test (Practical Type)

The written examination structure varies by post:

• Paper-I (All Posts): General Studies & Mental Ability - 150 Questions, 150 Marks, 150 Minutes (Degree Standard).
• Paper-II (AMVI): Automobile Engineering - 150 Questions, 300 Marks, 150 Minutes (Diploma Standard).
• Paper-II (Assistant Director Mines / Royalty Inspector / Technical Assistant): Geology / Mining Engineering - 150 Questions, 300 Marks (Mining) or 150 Marks (Geology) / 150 Minutes.
• Paper-II (Assistant Chemical Examiner / Lab Assistant): Chemistry or Pharmacy - 150 Questions, 150 Marks, 150 Minutes (Degree Standard).

Negative Marking: Each wrong answer is penalized with 1/3rd of the marks prescribed for the question, as per G.O.Ms. No.235, Finance Dept., dated 06/12/2016.
