Horizontal Reservation: Of the 28 posts, two are reserved for eligible Ex-servicemen and two for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. These are included within the total vacancies. The PwBD reservations are identified under Electronics Mechanic (category c) and COPA (category b).

Candidates must have passed SSC/10th Standard or an equivalent examination with Science subjects and secured at least 55% marks. In addition, they must satisfy one of the following trade-specific qualification routes.

Qualification Route Requirement Route 1 - Trade Certificate 10th with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks, plus ITI Certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade Route 2 - Apprenticeship Training 10th with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks, plus two years of full-time apprenticeship training from a recognized institution in the relevant trade Route 3 - Relevant Work Experience 10th with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks, plus three years of relevant work experience in a Ministry, Department, Government Organization, PSU or Autonomous Body under the Central/State/UT Government as prescribed

Important: ITI is not mandatory if the applicant qualifies through one of the other expressly permitted routes. The trade named in the certificate, apprenticeship training or work experience must correspond to the selected Technician post.

Candidates applying against unreserved vacancies should carefully check whether category-based relaxation is available for their selected post. Supporting certificates must be submitted in the applicable Government of India format.

Technician (1) posts carry Pay Level 2 under the applicable CSIR pay structure.

The approximate monthly emoluments are calculated at the minimum of the pay scale, including admissible HRA at Mysuru headquarters. Other benefits may include DA, transport allowance, medical reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Children's Education Allowance and pension benefits under applicable rules.

The Rs. 500 application fee is non-refundable and payable through SBI Collect. Candidates claiming fee exemption must upload the relevant supporting documents.

Fee Payment Requirement: Candidates required to pay the fee must enter the transaction details and upload the SBI Collect e-receipt on the recruitment portal by 18 November 2026 at 11:59 PM. Payment alone does not complete the application process.

Selection involves screening of applications, a qualifying Trade Test and a competitive Written Examination.

1. Screening of applications and eligibility documents.
2. Trade Test in the relevant trade, qualifying in nature.
3. Competitive Written Examination comprising Paper I, Paper II and Paper III.
4. Preparation of final merit based on Paper II and Paper III marks, subject to qualifying requirements.
5. Verification of eligibility and other appointment formalities.

Merit Rule: Paper I is qualifying in nature. Paper II and Paper III will be evaluated only for candidates securing the prescribed Paper I threshold. Final merit is based on the combined marks in Paper II and Paper III, not Paper I.

The written examination consists of 150 objective-type questions over 2 hours and 30 minutes. It may be conducted through OMR or computer-based mode.

• Paper I: 2 marks for every correct answer; no negative marking.
• Paper II: 3 marks for every correct answer; 1 mark deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Paper III: 3 marks for every correct answer; 1 mark deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Medium: English and Hindi, except questions relating to the English language.
• Examination Standard: SSC + ITI / 12th Standard.

The notification identifies the examination subjects but does not provide a detailed topic-by-topic syllabus for each of the 13 trades.

4. Enter the required personal, educational, category and experience details.
5. Select the eligible trade and post code.
6. Upload the prescribed photograph, signature, educational certificates and supporting documents.
7. Review the application using the Preview and Submit section.
8. Complete the final submission and record the generated Application Number.
9. If the application fee is applicable, pay Rs. 500 through SBI Collect.
10. Enter the payment details and upload the payment receipt to the application portal.
11. Download and print the completed application before 18 November 2026 at 11:59 PM.
12. Sign the printed application, attach a recent colour photograph and self-attested supporting documents.
13. Send the application by Speed Post or Registered Post so that it reaches CSIR-CFTRI by 26 November 2026.
