Educational qualifications and experience requirements differ between Technician-B and driver posts. Candidates must possess the required qualifications by 13 November 2026.

Technician-B applicants must have passed SSLC/SSC/Matriculation and possess an ITI, National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the relevant trade from NCVT.

Candidates must possess a qualification corresponding to the advertised trade. A 10th Pass certificate alone is not sufficient for Technician-B eligibility.

• Minimum three years of experience as a Light Vehicle Driver.
• Valid driving licence for light vehicles.
• The prescribed experience must have been acquired after obtaining a valid driving licence.
• Relevant requirements under the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Act must be fulfilled within three months of joining.

• SSLC/SSC/Matriculation Pass or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of driving experience, including at least three years as a Heavy Vehicle Driver.
• The balance experience must be in light motor vehicle driving.
• Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence and Public Service Badge, where statutorily required.
• Driving experience must have been obtained after acquiring the relevant valid licence.

Experience certificates must be issued by Government or Semi-Government organizations, registered companies, societies, trusts or other accepted establishments. Certificates issued by individuals are not accepted.

Part-time driving experience is not considered when calculating the required number of years. Candidates must possess the necessary qualifications, licences, experience and applicable Public Service Badge by the closing date.

The age limit for Technician-B and all advertised driver posts is 18 to 35 years as on 13 November 2026.

SC/ST/OBC/EWS applicants competing for unreserved vacancies are subject to the general age criteria applicable to those vacancies. Selected employees will be governed by the applicable National Pension System or Unified Pension Scheme provisions. Important: The refundable amount is conditional on appearing in the written examination. Candidates who do not appear in the written test are not eligible for the refund.

Payment is accepted online through the Bharatkosh payment gateway using Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. Applicable payment service charges are borne by the applicant.

Refunds will normally be made to the original payment method. Candidates should provide correct bank account details for cases where the original refund method fails.

The selection process includes initial application screening, a Written Test or Computer Based Test (CBT), and a qualifying Skill Test. For driver posts, the Skill Test is a practical driving assessment.

2. Written Examination / CBT: Screened-in candidates will appear for the applicable objective examination.
3. Skill Test: Candidates shortlisted based on written examination performance will be called for a qualifying skill or driving test.

Reserved-category qualifying standards apply only where the relevant vacancy is reserved. The Technician-B written examination syllabus is based on the prescribed trade curriculum.

The written test for Heavy Vehicle Driver-A, Light Vehicle Driver-A and Staff Car Driver-A consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

Each correct answer carries one mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

• Candidates must secure 50% marks in Part A.
• Candidates must also secure 50% marks in Parts B, C and D taken together.
• The notification provides 25% relaxation in passing marks for eligible reserved categories where the respective post is reserved.

The practical driving Skill Test carries 100 marks, with 60 marks required to qualify. No relaxation in Skill Test qualifying marks is allowed for any category.

Candidates qualifying in the written examination will be shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:10 ratio. The Skill Test is qualifying in nature.
